Fattoria San Lorenzo
Tenuta San Lorenzo in Grosseto covers 450 hectares, nestled between the Via Aurelia Antica and the Parco dell'Uccellina. Ninety per cent of the Tenuta's land is cultivated with cereal-beef products, both for zootechnical use and for high energy yield to be exploited for the production of electricity in the adjacent Biogas plants. In addition, there are olive groves from which oil is produced for food use and olive pomace that is also used for the biogas plants. Fattoria San Lorenzo, with a view to sustainable agriculture, has chosen to install the largest sub-irrigation system in Italy to avoid any kind of waste of such a precious commodity as water for an area as 'arid' and windy as the Tuscan Maremma.
